Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff has been found guilty of “denigrating religious teachings of a legally recognized religion”. This just demonstrates that the Austrian establishment is keen to continue its pathetic policy of appeasement towards Islam, a religion that has serious question marks over its ability to integrate into the civilised world. Why are people so afraid of Islam? Why are people so keen to respect it? Is it because they feer violence from adherents of the religion? If so then the Austrian authorities are bowing abjectly to threats of aggression. When it comes down to it many bad things have been done in the name of Islam. This does not mean that there is a problem with individual Muslims. It does mean that closer investigation of Islamic ideology is required. Restricting discussion of Islam does not make the problem go away, it makes suspicion of it worse. It makes people think that countries like Saudi Arabia are holding the West to ransom and threatening our leaders to be indulgent with Islam or else when what is needed is open and honest discussion. If this is the case they we are the victims of an act of war and our leaders are guilty of treason. Why can’t Islam be discussed, why are we constantly demanded to respect something. If something demands respect then it is clearly not worthy of it.

An open and honest discussion of Islam, the place of Sharia within that religion, and the conduct and character of its ‘Prophet’ Mohammed, who Muslims have a duty to revere as the perfect man, needs to take place. Repression against those who try to start this debate makes the public rightfully suspicious and encourages them to believe that Islam has a case to answer. If Islam is so perfect, then why can it not be exposed to the same criticism that Christianity has been subjected to over the years? Time to debate Islam, warts and all!
